When: Monday, 15 April – 6.30pm

Where: Men International, 35 Oswald Street, Glasgow, G1 4PE

What: West End Festival (WEF) would like to invite you to a ‘Flavour of the Festival’ – one of three photocalls to take place prior to the Festival launch.

The first flavour will feature the Big Band Festival, which will take place on Thursday 6th June at Queen Margaret Union, Glasgow, as part of the main West End Festival.

Three big bands, Zig Zag Big Band, Glasgow University Big Band and Byres Road Big Band, will form the Big Band Festival, which is geared towards the whole family and it’s the first time the three bands will have played together.

We join Zig Zag Big Band on 15th April at their Monday night rehearsal, preparing for their slot at the WEF, not in a studio or a garage but at Men International! Traditional barbers chairs, street art on the wall and 20 musicians playing live.

Opportunity: Capture the spirit of the WEF and the Big Band Festival by coming to hear snippets of their set, including a premier of Malcolm Macfarlane and some big band classics.

Photography, filming and interviews can take place after the short rehearsal (around 7pm) with Zig Zag Big Band’s musical director, Allon Beauvoisin and representatives from Glasgow University Big Band and Byres Road Big Band along with WEF’s chairman, Liz Scobie, using the quirky setting of the barber shop to improvise with the barber’s chair.

Space is limited due to the location, so please let us know if you’ve got something specific in mind so we can do our best to accommodate.
