I used to love writing these update posts, but last year was a whirlwind and I admit, I dropped the ball. Sorry!
I’m going to dedicate some time each month to update you on what’s going on in Aura land.
# Ski holiday
I’m off skiing from 6th March. I cannot wait! 2019 has kicked off with a real bang and I think it’ll do me good to get to the outdoors, take in some amazing sights in the Alps and let my hair down apres ski! I don’t respond to emails when I’m on holiday, so if you need me urgently, send me a WhatsApp.
#Judging the PRCA Dare Awards
I’ve been asked to judge a region in this year’s PRCA Dare Awards! I’ve accepted as part of my corporate responsibility to industry. It also means I get to enjoy a lovely evening, helping celebrate some great public relations work.
#New business briefs
I’ve had a few new business briefs in since January. I’m currently working on one consumer proposal which is in the event marketing sphere. I’ve also finished one for a dental group, I started off one as a collaboration with a design agency and then I decided it wasn’t for me, right now, and I’m working on upping consultancy time with another retained client. As a result, I’m bringing in skilled professionals to work with me on delivering some client work, including owned activity and specialist media relations support in England. More soon…
PRFest kicked off in January with a handful of speaker announcements and a limited amount of early-bird tickets. The programme is slowly being drip-feed and the full programme will go live next Wednesday, once the early bird tickets go on sale.
PRFest is my baby. Every year it grows in some way shape or form, but it’ll never grow in numbers. It’s quite an intimate event and attendees like the comfort of having frank and open conversations with similar-minded professionals. Check it out here if you’re interested.
#What else I’m working on
CodeClan – CodeClan is growing and last year, announced the successful recipe will be delivered Inverness through a partnership. It has also got a lot on over the next two months, with new courses being launched, sponsorship of major events and a growing community of CodeClan lovers.
Entrepreneurial Spark – this is a secret!!
Martha’s – as the pop-up in the west end of Glasgow launched last year, more ideas are cooking and we’ll be investing more time in strategy over the coming weeks. Lots happening with this fabulous brand. It’s also nice so many customers love it, too!
West End Festival – it’s all kicking off again, with a call for entries to the 2019 festival, taking place the whole of June! Social, email, web and media are all part of an integrated strategy.
CIPR – I stood down from CIPR Council in December, my final term from many years of volunteering as Chair of the Scotland Group, Board Director and Council member. Now, I Chair the Fellows’ Forum and have devised a strategy to ‘engage and attract’. The spring drinks event has launched (today)!
CIPR Client Services – as a Chartered PR professional, I was asked by the CIPR if I’d be interested in taking part in its new Client Services offering. I said yes! It’s basically a vehicle for those looking to recruit PR professionals to get sound advice from someone like me. Check it out here.
Aura – my own public relations blogs, meeting some amazing new contacts, exploring various opportunities at home and abroad, thinking big and loving my job
I’m pretty sure that’s it, but as you’ll see, there’s a lot on the go. Do keep an eye on the blog, Aura’s social feeds and if you’ve signed up for the #AuraTalk e-newsletter, you’ll get some suggested blogs to read, some of my news and anything else I think you’ll appreciate.
