The shortlist for the first Scottish Tech Startup Awards, which recognise the people and companies leading the way in building Scotland’s digital economy, has been announced.
Aura’s client, CodeClan, has been named, as CEO Melinda Matthews-Clarkson is once again shortlisted, this time for “Diversity in Tech Champion”.
Since I’ve worked with Melinda and the team at CodeClan, I’ve understood her drive to push diversity up the agenda.
In a media release for National Coding Week, Melinda said: “One in four of our graduates placed in tech roles to-date have been female and we know our employer partners want to have more diverse workplaces.
“Our goal is for women to total 40 percent of our graduating classes by 2020. As well as hosting National Coding Week events, we are hosting our Digital Women’s Group this Autumn with a stronger focus on understanding and addressing the issues facing women in growing their careers in the digital space.”
The winners will be announced on Thursday 29 November at the awards party in Edinburgh’s Central Hall. Fingers crossed for Melinda!
